10-year-old gets bedroom makeover

WARWICK – A 10-year-old Providence resident has received the finishing touches to his bedroom makeover wish granted by Children’s Wishes on Sept. 26.
Friends, family, Cardi’s Furniture and Children’s Wishes all came together for a wish party to celebrate Malik and his special wish.
Malik has been diagnosed with sickle cell disease. Wish-granting volunteers say he is a positive boy who is very sweet and generous, as he shared the Children’s Wishes toys he was brought with his family. Malik chose a bedroom makeover wish because he would like his own decorated room where he can relax, have fun, and fall asleep while watching television.
Cardi’s Furniture donated a bed, bureau and nightstand. Malik also received new bedding, a rug, curtains, basketball hoop for his bedroom door, television, DVD player, clock radio, posters for his wall, toys and a $150 gift card for clothes.
“We are happy to help a neighbor in need and to be a part of something as special as granting a wish for a deserving child. Cardi’s Furniture is proud to have the opportunity to partner with Children’s Wishes to give Malik an amazing bedroom makeover,” said Ben DeCastro, promotions and events director of Cardi’s Furniture.
Children’s Wishes is a nonprofit organization created in four years ago to grant wishes to children between the ages of 36 months and 18 years old with life-threatening illnesses. For more information, call 401-921-1300 or visit www.cwishesri.com.
