PROVIDENCE – Fourteen women have been chosen by Providence Business News to be honored in the second part of the newspaper’s year-long initiative to recognize outstanding women in the Rhode Island business community.

The third annual Business Women Awards program, to be held Thursday, May 20, at the Providence Marriott, will feature not only the newly selected women, but 12 women who have been featured monthly in the pages of PBN during the past year for their career success.

Heading the most recently named group will be Margaret D. Farrell, a partner with Hinckley Allen & Snyder LLP, who is being honored for overall career achievement, and Rena Wing, director of weight control and the diabetes research center at The Miriam Hospital and the Warren Alpert Medical School at Brown University, who is being recognized as an outstanding mentor to other business women.

The other honorees are established leaders or “women to watch” in one of six industry categories, listed here:

    1. This is a wonderful recognition event. It is a shame that it was scheduled this year to conflict with the RI Chapter of the International Association of Fundraising Professionals’ (AFP) all-day Annual Conference (which will be held in Warwick at the Sheraton Providence Airport Hotel). Many of us would like to attend both – but can’t!
