It’s a fact of life in the Northeast: It may not be next week, it may not be next month, but the snow will fall.

Case Snow Management Inc. is dedicated to making it easier for the rest of us to go about our lives and business when it does. And what sets the company apart is that, in the warmer months when the “S” word goes unspoken by most New Englanders, Case remains focused on its mission.

Snow is its business, 365 days a year.

“All we do is snow. We focus on that year round,” said Steve Germaine, a Case marketing associate. “It allows us to put a 12-month focus on a three-month season.”

The North Attleboro company’s roots extend back to 1951, when family patriarch John E. Case Jr. founded The J.E. Case Companies, with different branches focused on materials, disposal, recycling, development, and snow and ice management.

His son, Jason Case, then took the helm of Case Snow Management more than a decade ago.

Once just a division of J.E. Case, Case Snow Management is now a multimillion-dollar enterprise that serves 1,000 sites in nine states: Rhode Island, Connecticut, Massachusetts, Maine, New Hampshire, New Jersey, New York, Pennsylvania and Vermont, according to Germaine. Its fleet of 40 trucks and 100 loaders is specifically targeted to commercial properties, including strip malls, shopping malls, big-box stores, industrial parks and other large sites.

In that time, Case has established itself as the fifth-largest snow contractor in the country. And over the past three years, the company has grown 678 percent, according to Jason Case.

It has also racked up the accolades in recent years: In 2016, it was ranked No. 575 on Inc. Magazine’s list of the top 5,000 fastest-growing companies in America, and it has also been ranked in the top 5 of the Top 100 snow and ice management companies in North America by the industry’s Snow Magazine.

To accommodate its growth, Case recently moved from its previous location on Route 1 in North Attleboro to a new facility in the North Attleboro Industrial Park.

Ultimately, the company prides itself on its team of dedicated employees, as well as its level of service. “It’s a family-oriented company with a high focus on being a team, as opposed to a bunch of individuals,” said Germaine.

Case covers the spectrum of snow and ice management, including plowing, clearing sidewalks, de-icing using a variety of environmentally safe materials and hauling snow to off-site locations. It also performs risk management for companies.

In the spring, summer and fall, its employees and executives work with manufacturers, investigate and evaluate new technologies and materials, and attend numerous industry conferences.

Planning is also key to its success: Long before the snow begins to fall, the company’s case managers do detailed inspections of each site, taking photos and developing a snow-response plan. That involves using web-based technology to prepare an image of the site that is overlaid with information on priority areas, placement of snow piles, and other special instructions or information – ultimately making it easier for its men and women in the field to do their job.

“We have a high focus on quality,” said Germaine. •
