CHEVY CHASE, Md. – National 4-H Council will enhance its after-school programs in four states, including Rhode Island, with a $200,000 grant from the MetLife Foundation, the youth development organization announced Monday.

The MetLife Foundation funding to “4-H Afterschool” will help provide after-school programs to 250 underserved middle school-aged youth in urban areas of Rhode Island, Georgia, New Jersey and New York, according to a release.

“National 4-H Council is proud of its longstanding relationship with the MetLife Foundation,” said 4-H President and CEO Donald T. Floyd Jr. in a statement. “A continued collaboration with the MetLife Foundation will ensure that 4-H provides sustained and enhanced opportunities to strengthen the quality of ‘4-H Afterschool’ programs for middle school youth across America.”

4-H and MetLife Foundation have partnered on after-school programs for a decade. A previous grant helped 4-H provide programs for nearly 400 youth in eight states, the release said.
