A congressional panel on March 7 heard testimony supporting the creation of the Blackstone River Valley National Heritage Corridor National Park. The proposed national park would include several existing historic districts within the current national heritage corridor, including Slater Mill, above, in Pawtucket. A Senate subcommittee of the Energy and Natural Resources Committee took up the park proposal recently. Local supporters are hoping Congress will give its approval this year. / COURTESY JOHN H.
