PROVIDENCE – Gasoline prices in Rhode Island and Massachusetts fell 2 cents this week, AAA Northeast said Monday.
The weekly survey of gas prices shows the price for self-serve, regular unleaded is averaging $2.17 per gallon in the Ocean State and $2.09 per gallon in the Bay State.
A year ago, the price of unleaded regular in Rhode Island was $2.22, while it was $2.15 in Massachusetts. The national average price this week is $2.22 per gallon, putting both states below the national average.
Other grades of fuel were reported to have the following average prices:
- Rhode Island: midgrade unleaded, $2.44 per gallon; premium unleaded, $2.62 per gallon; diesel, $2.37 per gallon
- Massachusetts: midgrade unleaded, $2.35 per gallon; premium unleaded, $2.48 per gallon; diesel, $2.32 per gallon
