AAA: Gas prices rise in R.I., Mass.

PROVIDENCE – Gasoline prices rose 3 cents in Rhode Island, and 2 cents in Massachusetts this week, AAA Northeast said Monday.
In the Ocean State, self-serve, regular unleaded gasoline is averaging $2.20 per gallon. Rhode Island’s price is 3 cents below the national average for regular unleaded of $2.23. A year ago at this time, the average price in Rhode Island was 1 cent higher at $2.21.

Prices for unleaded regular in Rhode Island range from $2.03 to $2.39, with midgrade unleaded averaging $2.45, premium unleaded averaging $2.60, and diesel, $2.42.

“The preliminary agreement by OPEC nations to limit oil production is having an impact on oil prices, which may show up in higher pump prices,” Lloyd P. Albert, AAA Northeast senior vice president of public and government affairs, said in a statement. “However, OPEC does not meet again until the end of November, and there remains skepticism as to whether or not they will agree to planned production cuts.”

In the Bay State, self-serve, regular unleaded is averaging $2.11 per gallon, which is 12 cents below the national average. A year ago at this time, the average price in Massachusetts was 4 cents higher at $2.15.
Prices for unleaded regular in Massachusetts range from $1.94 to a high of $2.39, with midgrade unleaded averaging $2.34, premium unleaded averaging $2.52, and diesel $2.33.
