AAA: Gas prices tumble in R.I., Mass.

PROVIDENCE – Gasoline prices are continuing to fall in Rhode Island and Massachusetts, tumbling another 2 cents and 4 cents, respectively, AAA Northeast said.

AAA’s weekly survey of prices in Rhode Island showed that self-serve, regular unleaded is averaging $1.81 per gallon, 2 cents lower than last week. Rhode Island’s price is 10 cents above the national average for regular unleaded of $1.71. A year ago at this time, the average price in Rhode Island was 44 cents higher at $2.25.
Ocean State prices range from $1.70 to $1.99, with midgrade unleaded at $2.13; premium unleaded at $2.27 and diesel, $2.02.
In Massachusetts, self-serve, regular unleaded is averaging $1.74 per gallon, which is 3 cents above the national average. A year ago, the average price in Massachusetts was $2.22.
Bay State prices range from $1.57 to $1.99, with midgrade unleaded at $2.16; premium unleaded at $2.32 and diesel, $2.06.
