AAA: Gas prices unchanged in R.I., penny higher in Mass.

PROVIDENCE – Gasoline prices are unchanged from last week in Rhode Island, but they rose 1 cent in Massachusetts, according to AAA Northeast’s weekly survey of gasoline prices.

In Rhode Island, the average price of self-serve, regular unleaded gasoline is $2.37 for the second week in a row, which is 9 cents lower than a month ago and 3 cents less than the national average for regular unleaded of $2.40. A year ago, Rhode Island’s average price was $3.60.

Prices range from $2.21 to $2.59 in the Ocean State. Other prices for various gasoline grades are as follows: midgrade unleaded, $2.59; premium unleaded, $2.76; and diesel, $3.05.
In Massachusetts, self-serve, regular unleaded gasoline is averaging $2.34 per gallon, an increase of 1 cent from last week. Locally, prices are 12 cents lower than a month ago, and 6 cents less than the national average for self-serve unleaded of $2.40. A year ago, the Massachusetts average price was $3.53.
Massachusetts prices range from $2.13 to $2.55. Other prices for various gasoline grades are as follows: midgrade unleaded, $2.54; premium unleaded, $2.68; and diesel, $3.05.

AAA offered the following fuel saving tip: Don’t top off your gas tank. Stop filling after the automatic nozzle shuts off the second time.
