The Rhode Island ACE Mentor Program, which encourages students to pursue careers in architecture, engineering or construction, recently awarded scholarships to five Rhode Island high school students.
The winners were drawn from the more than 85 high school students from 20 schools in Rhode Island who participated in ACE Mentoring during the 2012-2013 school year. The students will receive $1,500 to $4,000 for college.
“Congratulations to our scholarship recipients, each of whom displayed outstanding creativity, initiative and leadership. Together with their fellow students in this year’s ACE Mentoring of RI program, they helped make this program a success and a fun place to learn and share for students, mentors and volunteers alike,” said Chris Watson, a member of the ACE RI Board.
The students awarded are Miguel Vega, Central Falls High School; Hipolito Carvalho, Tolman High School; Adilson Carvalho, Tolman High School; Michael Jodoin, Woonsocket High School; and Lindsay Cathcart, Scituate High School. •
