BARRINGTON – Brickyard Wine & Spirits presented a donation of roughly $2,560 to the organizations TAP-IN and the Stephen Hopkins Center for Civil Rights on June 25th. The funds for the donation were raised at the first ever East Bay Beer Festival, held on June 15th and sponsored by Brickyard Wine & Spirits.
The festival, held in Warren, hosted 320 visitors and featured exclusively Rhode Island breweries. Nine breweries and two brew pubs were in attendance including Narragansett brewing, Newport Storm Brewery and Ravenous Brewing.
Keeping the priority local, TAP-IN (Touch A Person In Need) and the Stephen Hopkins Center were chosen to be supported by the festival because of their work Rhode Island communities. In Barrington, headquarters for Brickyard Wine & Spirits, TAP-IN is considered a “pillar of the community."
TAP-IN serves the Barrington, East Providence, Warren and Bristol areas, acting as a food pantry and donation center for children’s toys and clothing. It also provides transportation to medical appointments for senior citizens. Brickyard Wine & Spirits’ donation is aiding the organization at a “key time” in the year. The summer months are a period when children are on vacation and not receiving food in school, and food banks need additional support.
The Stephen Hopkins Center for Civil Rights is a nonprofit legal aid group whose mission is to assist citizens maintain their rights to free speech and private property. The center handles six to 10 cases at any given time and hosts seminars.
