AG, contractors board shut down paver

EAST PROVIDENCE – A paving contractor charged with fraudulent activity was recently shut down and ordered to pay $32,450 in restitution to 12 customers, Attorney General Peter F. Kilmartin said last week.

Kilmartin’s office and the Rhode Island Contractors’ Registration and Licensing Board collaborated on the action against MTY Paving.

In July they began receiving complaints from consumers alleging negligent and improper work, breach of contract as well as allegations of elder abuse and price gouging by MTY Paving.

After an investigation, the board revoked MTY Paving’s contractor license, prohibiting the company from operating as a contractor in the state. Kilmartin’s office, which serves as legal counsel to the board, filed a motion in Superior Court to enforce the actions against the business. •
