AIDS Walk for Life planned for Saturday

WJAR-TV NBC 10’s Alison Bologna will emcee the DO It Right 29th annual AIDS Walk for Life on Saturday, Sept. 27.
The event, which will be held rain or shine, starts and ends on the Rhode Island State House lawn, and benefits AIDS Project RI as well as other AIDS services organizations that assist people living with HIV/AIDS.
The theme “Do It Right” is intended to reflect the HIV/STD prevention campaign kicked off in June by AIDS Project Rhode Island, the Rhode Island Department of Health, The Miriam Hospital, and the Rhode Island Public Health Institute.
Bologna, who anchors Channel 10’s newscasts, was recently named Rhode Island Monthly’s top female television news reporter in the region. Rhode Island College President Nancy Carriuolo is serving as honorary chairperson, while Dr. Philip Chan, director of the HIV/STD Prevention Clinic at The Miriam Hospital Immunology Center, is event chairman.
On-site registration for the 2.5 mile-walk begins at 9 a.m., with the kick-off at 10. Registration is also available at www.aidsprojectri.org or www.firstgiving.com/aidswalkri. Free, anonymous and rapid testing for HIV will be available. AIDS Walk 2014 T-shirts are available to anyone who raises $100 or more, while supplies last.
AIDS Project Rhode Island, a division of Family Service of Rhode Island, is seeking to add to its list of sponsors. Both sponsorship and general information are available by contacting Julie Casimiro at 401-519-2289 or Julie@aidsprojectri.org.
