AS220 expected to complete Satin Doll purchase

PROVIDENCE – Nonprofit arts organization AS220 expects to complete the purchase of property at 35 Aborn St., the current home of Satin Doll nightclub, on Monday.
Plans for the stand-alone building include an extensive renovation, roof replacement and new internal systems including heating and air conditioning, according to Bert Crenca, the founder and artistic director of AS220.
Within a year, the organization hopes to move its main performance stage to the renovated structure. This would allow AS220 to reconfigure its remaining programs at its properties on Empire Street, and expand the size of its restaurant, he said.
The purchase of the one-story brick building was made possible with a $320,000 bridge loan through the Providence Redevelopment Agency.
