PROVIDENCE – AT&T plans to roll out 4G LTE to its customers in the Providence area by the end of 2012.
With speeds the company boasts as “up to 10 times faster than 3G,” AT&T customers will be able to stream, download, upload and game faster than before on LTE-compatible devices.
“Providence enjoys AT&T’s fast 4G speeds today as part of New England’s largest 4G network, and our teams will be working hard across the city toward our upcoming 4G LTE launch,” Patricia Jacobs, president of AT&T New England, said in prepared remarks. “AT&T customers in Providence can look forward to even faster speeds this year, on our leading lineup of smartphones, tablets and other devices.”
Verizon customers in the Providence area have enjoyed 4G LTE coverage for nearly a year. The company launched LTE coverage in the greater Providence area in November 2011.
