ATW expanding R.I. operations

WARWICK – ATW Companies has added 30 jobs to its Rhode Island manufacturing operation in the last two years and plans to hire an additional 70 workers by 2015, the firm announced Thursday.

The expansion comes at the company’s A.T. Wall and Metalform subsidiaries.

ATW purchased Metalform, which makes firearms products such as magazines, in 2011 and since added new equipment and workers in manufacturing, design engineering, assembly and sales.

The A.T. Wall precision stamping and tubing subsidiary was founded 125 years ago to serve the jewelry industry and now serves a variety of end users.

“Before being acquired, Metalform didn’t have the resources to aggressively capture more business and service it,” said Tracy MacNeal, ATW’s chief strategy officer in a news release. “ATW has been able to expand the division, add new equipment, hire workers and meet the demand successfully.”

The release said new orders with a “significant number” of new suppliers would generate “hundreds of thousands of dollars” in activity to the local economy.
