Abrams leading legal team at GTECH

PROVIDENCE – Neil Abrams is joining GTECH S.p.A to lead the legal team as senior vice president and general counsel, the company announced Tuesday.
Abrams, who will be based in Providence, will be responsible for overseeing all legal and corporate governance matters for the company, and will report to GTECH Executive Vice President and Chief Financial Officer Alberto Fornaro.
“As GTECH prepares for the imminent acquisition of IGT, and we begin listing on the New York Stock Exchange, our legal team will play a critical role ensuring we successfully navigate these changes and opportunities,” Fornaro said in a statement. “Neil’s lengthy and transformative experience with IBM, combined with his strong customer focus, will provide GTECH with the depth and expertise needed to meet these objectives.”

Most recently, Abrams served as IBM’s vice president and assistant general counsel, client experience, where he was responsible for transforming and simplifying the way that IBM conducts business with its clients.

Abrams also managed IBM’s mergers and acquisition legal staff, and the corporation’s contracts development organization. Previously, he was the chief legal officer for IBM’s software business. Other roles included vice president for software intellectual property, chief counsel for the venture capital group, and associate general counsel for several IBM technology businesses.

Abrams received his Juris Doctor degree from St. John’s University in New York. He is a member of the New York State Bar.
