Adler Pollock & Sheehan PC recently presented its annual $10,000 Diversity Scholarship to Jose Lopez. Lopez, who holds a B.A. and a master’s of education from Boston College, is currently pursuing a J.D. at Suffolk University Law School. Since obtaining his M.Ed. in 2006, Lopez has been teaching civics in Boston public schools, namely the Curley School in Roxbury. He is the fifth recipient of the Diversity Award.
Adler Pollock & Sheehan developed the Diversity Award as a part of its plan to diversify the firm and the legal profession as a whole by encouraging and assisting minority students to attend law school and successfully enter the practice of law. Each year, the law firm selects a minority student who has demonstrated academic excellence and a commitment to the community. Other deciding factors include the financial needs of the applicant and the desire to work and reside in Rhode Island or Massachusetts upon graduating law school.
In addition to receiving the scholarship, Lopez will work as a summer associate in the firm’s Boston office later this year. &#8226
