Mastermind Adventures LLC hosts events designed to bring fun learning experiences to youths.

CEO Krysten Callina, of Somerset, who founded the limited-liability company on Feb. 2 with her husband, Jason, tested out the premise informally with their children’s friends, and more recently surveyed a growing email list of about 100 parents. So far, they’ve held four events locally, Callina said.

“Parents are looking for activities for their kids that get them moving and also can engage them and maybe teach them something,” she said.

For $35 a day per person, a recent event partnering with Education in Action in Providence involved lessons by a physicist, a cancer researcher and others that led to youths looking for clues to solve a mystery in a game where humans battled zombies, she said.

The company name is meant to reflect “something … fun and awesome,” Callina said. “Adventures are part of the mystery, and we really want kids to feel like they are the masterminds.” •
