The National Guard Association of Rhode Island recently presented Hasbro Children’s Hospital with a donation of $115,000, which was raised through the association’s annual air show in May.
Every year, tens of thousands of spectators flock to the Quonset National Guard Base to watch the U.S. Navy Blue Angels gracefully maneuver through the sky. The show has generated money for local charities for the past 20 years, including Hasbro Children’s Hospital, which is one its major beneficiaries.
Since the partnership began, the association has donated more than $2 million to the hospital.
“The funds raised through this long-time Rhode Island tradition help our children each and every day – I am humbled by the number of young lives and families who have benefited from this generosity over the years,” said Dr. Timothy Babineau, president and CEO of Lifespan, parent of the hospital.
The donation was presented to Babineau on Dec. 2 by Denis Riel, Col. Bob Germani, Michael Martin and Jen McPherson of the association. •
