WALTHAM – Two Rhode Island companies – Alex and Ani Inc. and G-Form LLC – are finalists for the 2012 New England Innovation Awards from the Smaller Business Association of New England.
Cranston-based Alex and Ani is one of 12 finalists in the for-profit category and Providence-based G-Form is one of three finalists in the “rising star” category.
“Innovation is at the heart of economic prosperity and SBANE has been recognizing those companies that have transformed their innovative ideas into a product or service that delivers proven value to customers for the past 26 years,” SBANE representatives said in a release.
The two local businesses are part of a group of 20 innovative companies selected out of the 268 nominees in phase I of the competition. This was the largest amount of nominees since the program’s inception in 1986.
For phase II, finalists will make a formal presentation to a panel of judges, and nine will be awarded the 2012 New England Innovation Award.
