All about broadsides

In a time before modern technology, people would look to broadsides for information on entertainment and other topics. Thursday, Russell J. DeSimone, a collector of broadsides, will share 45 examples from his private collection during a lecture presented by the Newport Historical Society and the Redwood Library and Athenaeum. “Rhode Island Broadsides: A Collector’s Perspective,” will examine the use of broadsides in a variety of categories and showcase examples from DeSimone’s collection, which dates back to 1787.
