American Lung Association to host state’s first LUNG FORCE Expo

PROVIDENCE – The American Lung Association will host its inaugural LUNG FORCE Expo at the Providence Marriott Downtown on Thursday, April 7. The LUNG FORCE Expo is a new educational event for health care professionals and lung disease patients and their caregivers to learn more about lung disease’s latest trends, research and treatments. Program topics include lung cancer screening and treatment, treatment for chronic obstructive pulmonary disease and asthma, new palliative care approaches and the latest recommendations for sleep apnea treatment. The LUNG FORCE Expo will feature two distinct programs, one for patients and their caregivers, and the other for health professionals seeking the newest information on research and trends in lung disease treatment.

“Screening high risk patients for lung cancer with low-dose CT scan has proven to significantly decrease deaths from lung cancer,” Dr. Terrance Healey, LUNG FORCE Expo chairman and director of thoracic radiology at Rhode Island Hospital, said in a statement. “The LUNG FORCE Expo will educate health professionals, patients and caregivers on the identification and referral of high-risk patients for screening and the current treatment options available.”
