America’s Cup cargo unloaded in Quonset

NORTH KINGSTOWN – Workers began unloading the first of the cargo for the America’s Cup on Monday, June 11 at the Port of Davisville.

The Dutch ship MV Dolfijngracht arrived in Rhode Island on Sunday carrying more than 100 containers of rigging and gear, as well as chase boats and catamaran race boats.

Newport will host a “festival of sailing” from June 23 to July 1, culminating in the America’s Cup World Series running through the East Passage of Narragansett Bay from Tuesday, June 26, through Sunday, July 1.

The America’s Cup series will climax on Sunday, with the final race. Both the event and season champion will be crowned.

General admission tickets to the A.C. Village in Fort Adams State Park on June 28 to July 1 are $10 per person per day. Children 12 and under get in free. No tickets are necessary from June 23 to June 27.

A.C. Village opens at 11:00 a.m. each day and closes at 5:00 p.m. except on race days, when it closes at 7:00 p.m.
