Amgen Inc.’s charitable arm, the Amgen Foundation, recently awarded a grant to Children’s Friend, a nonprofit that provides support, mental health and development services to children and their families. The $10,000 grant will go toward the nonprofit’s Nurse Family Partnership program.
David Caprio, president and CEO of Children’s Friend, said, “[Nurse Family Partnership] has shown consistent results for more than 30 years across the country, and we are excited to bring this program to Rhode Island.”
Children’s Friend has been providing free support to low-income, first-time mothers 24 years old and younger since July 2010 as a part of the Nurse Family Partnership.
“A key element of the [Amgen] Foundation’s mission is to increase access to resources that create sound communities, “said Tony Pankau, vice president of Amgen’s Rhode Island operations. “Nurse Family Partnership helps to do just that – helping families gain the vital life skills they need to build a foundation for strong, healthy lives.” •
