Animal Rescue Rhode Island wins MuttNation Foundation award

SOUTH KINGSTOWN – Animal Rescue Rhode Island, a no-kill animal shelter committed to the humane welfare of animals in need, has won the 2016 MuttNation Foundation’s Mutts Across America 50 States/50 Shelters annual award.
Bringing families and best friends together since 1938, Animal Rescue Rhode Island is a private, nonprofit, no-kill shelter that is committed to the welfare of animals in need, regardless of geography, time, space, breed or humanely treatable medical or behavioral issues. The shelter is located at 506B Curtis Corner Road in the village of Peace Dale.
Founded by Grammy winner Miranda Lambert and her mother, Bev Lambert, MuttNation Foundation’s mission is to end animal cruelty, neglect and homelessness.
Each year, the Lamberts and the foundation’s board of directors select one top shelter in every U.S. state. The award includes a $3,000 grant.
ARRI was chosen as the Rhode Island shelter exemplifying the fight to end animal suffering. Besides its tireless work to help animals in need, ARRI meets strict criteria in line with the foundation’s critical values, including a high adoption-per-intake rate, high volunteerism, fiscal responsibility, spay and neuter advocacy, and a strong community presence, the foundation said in a press release.
“We are proud to join forces with you and appreciate the exemplary work you have exhibited in the fight to end animals’ suffering and accelerate shelter pet adoption,” the Lamberts said.
