PAWTUCKET – Arden Engineering Constructors LLC has acquired Rayco Electrical Corp. of Providence in a move intended to grow the firm’s electrical business, according to Arden’s president and CEO, Robert M. Bolton.
Bolton, who said the terms of the acquisition were not disclosed, said on Monday that he hopes to retain all of Rayco’s approximately 30 employees.
Eventually, over six months, he said they will move to Arden’s Pawtucket facility.
The new division will be called Rayco-Arden.
Arden Engineering Constructors is a division of Arden Building Companies Inc., whose firms include Earthwise Energy Technologies and Unique Metal Works LLC in Pawtucket; M.J. Daly LLC in Waterbury, Conn.; and Corporate Mechanical of New England LLC in Tewksbury, Mass. Arden employs approximately 350 workers, Bolton said.
Bolton said he is excited about the acquisition, and continuing his company’s relationship with Rayco, especially since it will help it serve the growing specialized electrical construction market in Southeastern Massachusetts and Rhode Island.
According to a news release from Arden, the acquisition will emphasize Arden Engineering’s commitment to providing electrical design and construction services to the highly specialized medical, data center and high-tech customer market, it said.
“The acquisition of Rayco by Arden Engineering will enable us to provide specialized electrical solutions for the complex commercial and industrial problems facing our customers today. The multiple resources now available to our customers as a result of this acquisition, combined with the comprehensive training provided to our workers by the local trade unions, will provide unparalleled cost-effective solutions for our customers,” Bolton said.
Fred Colucci, Rayco’s vice president, said, “The purchase of Rayco by Arden Engineering is the result of two families in the construction trades joining forces to offer a bigger, better electrical contracting division that will broaden our ability to offer complex electrical solutions to our customers and lead to positive, profitable growth for Rayco-Arden over the next several years.”
Rayco, formed in 1981, specializes in historical, governmental, medical, and data center electrical design and installations.
Arden is a $110 million mechanical, electrical, mechanical engineering, plumbing, fire protection, and alternative energy construction and engineering firm, serving clients in pharmaceutical, health care, higher education, commercial and heavy industrial markets throughout New England.
