Armenio named chairman of Department of Medicine at RWMC

PROVIDENCE – Following a national search, Dr. Vincent Armenio has been named chairman of Roger Williams Medical Center’s Department of Medicine.
In this role, Armenio will be responsible for providing leadership within the Department of Medicine, including oversight of clinical affairs, quality care, program development and outreach to community physicians and other providers.
A hematologist/oncologist, Armenio has held a number of leadership roles at Roger Williams, including vice chairman of the Department of Medicine and associate director of the Cancer Center. He is board certified in internal medicine and medical oncology.
Armenio serves as chairman of the Quality Oncology Practice Initiative Committee at the Cancer Center.
“This is a critically important position for our clinical and teaching programs,” Kimberly O’Connell, president of Roger Williams, said in a statement. “We are confident that Dr. Armenio will provide a balanced approach in his responsibilities for administrative, clinical collaboration and clinical academic programming while assuring that we build a departmental culture of teamwork and excellence.”

Armenio received his fellowship training in hematology/medical oncology and pediatric hematology/oncology at Brown University School of Medicine. After graduating from Ross University School of Medicine in Dominica, he completed a residency in internal medicine through Mount Sinai School of Medicine at Englewood Hospital in New Jersey.
