Arthritis walk raises $65K

PROVIDENCE – Local residents raised more than $65,000 to fight and cure arthritis by participating in the Rhode Island Walk to Cure Arthritis on May 4.
The company with the biggest business team of 39 people, the Mahr Federal, an advanced measurement systems company, raised more than $3,900 dollars.
Funds raised through this event are put toward Arthritis Foundation programs, research and advocacy initiatives to help prevent, control and find a cure for the disease.
“This is the 10th year that Rhode Island has held the Walk to Cure Arthritis,” says Regional CEO Stephen Evangelista. “We are excited to be a part of removing the burden of arthritis both locally and across the country.”
Striking one in every five adults, arthritis affects more than 50 million adults and 300,000 children – or approximately 22 percent of the United States population in more than 100 different forms. The Arthritis Foundation raises awareness and funds research to help restore mobility in people suffering from the disease. For more information, visit www.arthritis.org.
