Arts & Cultural Alliance gets Chamber award

NEWPORT – The Arts & Cultural Alliance of Newport County will be recognized as the Outstanding Community Achievement Award winner at the Newport County Chamber of Commerce annual dinner dance and silent auction at the Hyatt Regency Hotel & Spa on Goat Island in Newport on Nov. 16.
“States and communities now recognize arts and culture as an effective and untapped economic engine and are integrating the arts into their economic development strategies, restoring economic vitality to failing geographic neighborhoods, creating vibrant public spaces that expand the business and tax revenue base, and promoting innovative partnerships among state agencies, communities, and the business sector to create economic opportunity and improve the quality of life and place,” said Jody Sullivan, executive director of the Newport Chamber of Commerce, in a statement.
Previous award winners include Naval Station Newport, the Newport Daily News and Aquidneck Land Trust.
