Ten newly renovated buildings in this historic mill village were once part of the Ashton Mill, and built by the Lonsdale Co. in 1867 to house its workers. Newly renovated by developer Valley Affordable Housing Corp. into 53 apartments, the mill village is once again fully occupied.

The project received state and federal Historic Preservation Tax Credits. Rhode Island Housing provided additional financing. Ashton Village is on the National Register of Historic Places. The renovation retained the original facades of its exteriors, while improving access and lighting. Interiors were updated for modern needs.
