Astro-Med completes acquisition of Miltope printers

WEST WARWICK – Astro-Med Inc., maker of specialty printers and data-acquisition systems, announced on Feb. 12, that it has completed its acquisition of Miltope Corp.’s line of rugged aerospace printers designed for approximately $6.7 million.
The acquisition, funded from cash on hand, expands Astro-Med’s product portfolio of ruggedized printers designed for use in commercial and military aircraft, and significantly strengthens Astro-Med’s global footprint through the addition of several airline contracts with leading airlines in the Americas, Asia and Europe.
“We are excited for the opportunity to work with more airlines from across the globe,” said Thomas W. Carll, vice president and worldwide director of sales for Astro-Med. “We welcome Miltope customers to the Astro-Med flight-deck printer family.”
The transaction, which formally closed on Jan. 22, included a manufacturing services agreement under which Miltope will continue to manufacture its printers – including the NP4840, TP4429 and TP4840 – until Astro-Med transitions the manufacturing operations to its West Warwick facility within the next six months.
Miltope’s line of ruggedized printers are sold to aircraft manufacturers and contractors and directly to airlines around the world, said Astro-Med.
