Astro-Med lands Embaer KC-390 contract

WEST WARWICK – Astro-Med Inc. has been awarded the flight deck printer contract for the new Embraer KC-390 military transport aircraft by the Embraer Defense and Security division of Embraer SE.
Under the terms of the deal, Astro-Med will supply ToughWriter 5 ruggedized cockpit printers to Embraer. The printers are night vision compliant and tested to military standards, according to the company.
“We are delighted that Embraer has selected Astro-Med ruggedized cockpit printers to be a part of Embraer’s exciting new KC-390 aircraft,” Thomas W. Carll, Astro-Med vice president said in prepared remarks.
In April, Embraer officially announced that the KC-390 had finalized the critical design review and was officially for sale on the global market. The craft’s inaugural flight is expected to be in the second half of 2014.
The KV-390 is a medium-life, twin-engine jet-powered military transport aircraft with “the lowest total lifecycle cost and highest availability in its class,” according to the company.
Astro-Med’s cockpit printers will be an option for each KC-390 aircraft.
