Autolist: Warwick most affordable city in R.I. to buy a car

PROVIDENCE – Warwick is the most affordable city in Rhode Island to buy a car, followed by Cranston and Providence, according to a recent survey by Autolist, a website featuring used and new cars for sale.
The site analyzed 33,000 listings in Rhode Island, and looked at data for the state’s five counties, as well as 34 communities, to come up with its third quarter findings.
Warwick is $26 less expensive on average than other cities to buy a car, while cars will cost only $5 and $7 more in Cranston and Providence, respectively. However, it costs $181 more to buy a car in Woonsocket, the most expensive city, the website said.
Providence, the site said, is the 181st most affordable city in the U.S., and is $282 less expensive than other U.S. cities on average to buy a car.
Bristol County is the most affordable county for car buying, as cars there tend to cost $688 less than the state average, while Washington County is the most expensive, with prices up to $334 more than the state average.
Rhode Island also is the third most affordable place to buy a car in the U.S., behind only Washington, D.C., and Florida. The most expensive state was Wyoming.
