WARREN – Ava Anderson Non Toxic, a maker of all-natural personal products, is moving to the American Tourister Mill on Aug. 1.

Ava Anderson, company founder and CEO, and her mother Kim S. Anderson, company president, said the firm’s growth prompted the need for a new location.

The company is going from a 20,000-square-foot space in East Providence to 121,000 square feet in the mill.

Ava Anderson described it as a “huge move.” But the move will be temporary.

Kim Anderson said the plan is to stay there for only two years as they search for a “forever home” for Ava Anderson Non Toxic somewhere in Rhode Island, preferably the East Bay area.

The mill, owned by Brady Sullivan Properties, will serve as office, manufacturing and warehouse space for the company.

“We’re excited to welcome Ava Anderson Non-Toxic to our Warren property,” Charles Panasis, director of commercial real estate at Brady Sullivan Properties, said in a statement. “Ava’s story of building a company from the bottom up that challenges the industry norm is one that resonated with us, and the American Tourister Mill is a great place for her company to continue to grow.”

Panasis said that Ava Anderson Non Toxic will be the only tenant in that portion of the complex, as the other part of the mill is being developed into apartments and commercial space.
Kim Anderson said the move will give the company needed space for executive offices, manufacturing, distribution and shipping.

Founded by Ava Anderson in 2009, the company was created to offer an alternative to chemical-laden products that are predominant on store shelves. The company has grown to include 17 product lines, including skin, sun, baby, home, garden, men and auto.

Kim Anderson said the company has expanded by approximately 300 percent in the last 12 months. The number of employees has grown to 95 from 45 in January, and revenue this year is projected to be $40 million.

Ava Anderson attributes the popularity of her line to a growing interest in natural products.

She said they are hiring new employees every week and also have a network of 10,000 sales consultants around the country, including 400 in Rhode Island. Kim Anderson said they’ve enrolled 1,000 consultants in the past month.

“The growth is just crazy and exciting,” Ava Anderson said.
