FALL RIVER – The Bristol Community College Academic Center for Entrepreneurship has named the annual winners of their entrepreneurship competition:

Lisa and Randy Aronofsky transformed a vacant residential home into a tranquil retreat for those seeking rest and relaxation. Their practice has grown from a staff of two to seven people and they are preparing to expand.

CORNERSTONE ENTREPRENEUR: Evelyn “Fay” Bettencourt – Fay’s Restaurant.
Evelyn assisted her mother in their family business, Fay’s Knotty Pine in the North End of New Bedford and became the sole owner in 1983, when her mother retired. Twelve years later, Evelyn, was forced to make a tough decision as to whether or not to open a new restaurant, as the building that Fay’s Knotty Pine was located in was up for sale. She recognized the challenge and risk that would lie ahead due to tough economic times and the strong competition she would face. However, Evelyn marched forward and opened the local favorite, Fay’s Restaurant, in Dartmouth.
In keeping with family tradition, Evelyn purchased a building and completely renovated it from the ground up. She expanded the business from pizza and pasta to a ful-course menu. Due to Evelyn and her strong leadership, Fay’s Restaurant has now been open for 14 years.
