BEA winners prove R.I. is a success

A dozen years of naming Business Excellence Award winners has taught PBN that there is no lack of talented leaders and achievers in the region.

Included in this year’s special section profiling those nine individuals and organizations that were honored last week at the annual recognition event is a story about a third-generation family business in Pawtucket that has recast itself to fit the needs of its market and is thriving as a result.

A serial entrepreneur conceived, developed and is now making a revolutionary product to repair bones and is selling the product commercially in Europe while beginning clinical trials in the United States. And the company, with about $50 million in seed capital in hand, is building a future (and adding jobs) in East Providence.

There are many more stories, but they all share one thing – they are successes happening here in Rhode Island, a fact that is important to remind ourselves of every once in a while. •
