BJ’s Wholesale donates to Operation Stand Down

BJ’s Wholesale Club in Johnston recently donated a pallet of food to the Operation Stand Down Rhode Island food pantry. The food will go to Operation Stand Down’s clients and all struggling and at-risk veterans in the Rhode Island area.
“It is because of corporations like BJ’s Wholesalers that we are able to provide vital services to hundreds of struggling veterans in Rhode Island. With record unemployment, veterans are struggling to put food on their tables and feed their families. With this donation we will ensure that local veterans are able to provide a good meal for their families,” said Operation Stand Down Rhode Island Director of Supportive Services John McDonough, a retired command sergeant major in the U.S. Army. “With help of companies like BJ’s we hope that we can grow the Operation Stand Down Rhode Island food bank and provide assistance to even more veterans.”
Operation Stand Down Rhode Island, which recently celebrated its one-year anniversary, operates six housing facilities throughout Rhode Island for homeless disabled veterans and provides supportive services to both its residents and other needy veterans in Rhode Island. •
