PROVIDENCE – Bank Rhode Island is planning to open its new Wakefield branch in early May, the bank’s 19th location and its first in the Wakefield area in South Kingstown, according to an announcement by the bank.
“This project is one that BankRI has been working on for a while, and it’s exciting to see us approaching the finish line,” said BankRI President and CEO Mark J. Meiklejohn. “We are eager to support the financial needs of both individuals and businesses while becoming further involved in the community.”
The land for the new branch, the long-empty Wakefield Station site, had been one of the largest remaining pieces of property available for development in the commercial area of the village.
The new two-story, 4,600-square-foot branch will have drive-through banking and a drive-through ATM, as well as meeting and office space for BankRI investment, mortgage, commercial and business financial specialists.
“We take great pride in becoming the bank of choice for customers seeking the personal attention only a local bank can provide,” said Meiklejohn.
