Bank Rhode Island to open new branch

MIDDLETOWN – Bank Rhode Island plans to open its newest branch early next year in Middletown, according to an announcement last month.
The branch opening, scheduled for completion “by early 2016,” would bring the bank’s total number of branch locations to 20. The branch will open at 132 E. Main Road, according to the announcement. Mark J. Meiklejohn, president and CEO of Bank Rhode Island, says the location will expand services to residents and business across the East Bay.
“We are excited to have a presence in East Bay and offer those across its communities the relationship banking model that BankRI is known for,” Meiklejohn said. “We’re also looking forward to introducing technology that delivers new levels of convenience to our valued customers while positioning ourselves to attract new clientele – we see a lot of potential for growth.”
The 1,800 square foot facility will include private commercial lending offices, space for retail banking and business financial specialists and conference rooms, according to the announcement. The bank will also have a 24-hour walk-up ATM.
Each teller will have a cash recycler machine, which the bank estimates will reduce business deposits time for those with a large number of items by up to 50 percent.
