BankFive Foundation awards $25K to Coastline Elderly Services

NEW BEDFORD, Mass. – The BankFive Foundation, a fund of the Community Foundation of Southeastern Massachusetts, has awarded $25,000 to Coastline Elderly Services Inc. to support the purchase of a Meals on Wheels program delivery vehicle.
Coastline’s Meals on Wheels program provides meals five days a week to individuals who have difficulty leaving their homes. Coastline served nearly a quarter of a million meals in 2014, an all-time high for the agency.
The contribution to Coastline aligns with the BankFive Foundation fund’s mission of providing financial support to the local community through grants that will enrich schools or other organizations serving low- to moderate-income households. The foundation operates in partnership with the Community Foundation.
“The BankFive Foundation has made an extraordinary $1.2 million investment in the South Coast by establishing this fund,” said Community Foundation President Craig J. Dutra. “Its mission is in perfect alignment with our efforts to improve the quality of life in southeastern Massachusetts.”
The Community Foundation of Southeastern Massachusetts has distributed more than $20 million from 225 funds since 2005 to humanitarian, educational and cultural organizations in the region.
“I’m proud that the BankFive Foundation Fund is able to provide the funding for the support of purchasing a new vehicle that will provide much aid to the seniors living in the Southcoast,” said William R. Eccles Jr., BankFive president and CEO. “Coastline Elderly Services’ Meals on Wheels is an excellent program providing a much-needed service to the elderly community.”
