Posted 8/7/12

MIDDLETOWN – BankNewport has officially broken ground at the site of its proposed new headquarters and operations center at 184 John Clarke Road in the Aquidneck Corporate Park in Middletown.

The bank is moving its headquarters into one central location, which will result in relocating the staff from the existing 12 Turner Road and 528 West Main Road branches in Middletown. About 145 employees will be headquartered at the new address when the move is completed in the summer of 2013. No positions are expected to be lost.

BankNewport representatives J. Timothy O’Reilly, chairman of the board, Sandra J. Pattie, president and CEO, and members of the bank’s board of directors were joined by Shawn Brown, Middletown Town administrator, Arthur Weber, Middletown Town Council president, James Farrar of Farrar and Associates, and Donald Lonergan of DRL Associates Inc.
