BankNewport employees recently raised a total of $825.90 for the March of Dimes Rhode Island chapter through the bank’s Dress Casual for a Cause program. The employees pitched in their donations in order to gain the privilege to dress casually on Fridays during the program’s designated month.

The March of Dimes Rhode Island chapter was chosen as this year’s Dress Casual program beneficiary by a BankNewport employee currently receiving assistance through the nonprofit’s Newborn Intensive Care Unit Family Support Program.

The donation will support the March of Dimes mission to improve the health of babies through research, community services, education and advocacy to help prevent birth defects, premature births and infant mortality. Its NICU Family Support Program provides support to families with infants hospitalized due to premature births or other medical conditions. The Rhode Island NICU Family Support Program is based at Women & Infants Hospital. •
