EAST PROVIDENCE – St. Mary Academy Bay View, in conjunction with the Rhode Island Blood Center, held a second blood drive of the year on March 12, generating 45 pints of blood.
Referred to on campus as the “Be a High School Hero” blood drive, the event, which took place on campus in the Athletic Wellness Center, beat its goal by 15 pints. Students, teachers and parents donated.
The academy is an independent Catholic school for girls open to all faiths, pre-kindergarten through Grade 12. It is sponsored by the Sisters of Mercy, an international community of Roman Catholic women who dedicate their lives to God through vows of poverty, chastity, obedience and service.
