Bellevue Gardens Shopping Center revamp underway

NEWPORT – Renovation of the Bellevue Gardens Shopping Center has begun, designed to update the facilities and improve traffic flow, according to property manager Bliss Properties. Construction began March 3 and is expected to be completed in June.
The renovation will enhance the front and rear façades of the buildings, install new LED lighting, redefine the parking lot with improved drainage and create new granite curbing and red brick walkways through a landscaped setting.
Participating in the design and construction team are Northeast Collaborative Architects, Beta Engineering, VHB and Behan Brothers Inc.
The construction will require the temporary closure of the Bellevue Avenue access shifting the main entrance to Jones Avenue, near CVS. Retail customers will be able to access the shopping center on either Jones Avenue or William Street.
The shopping center, on Bellevue Avenue, includes retailers such as Bellevue Wine & Spirits, Newport Creamery and A Market, as well as Bank of America. Bliss Properties has operated the site since 1957. The owner is Bellevue Gardens Shopping Center Associates, a partnership that includes members of the Garabedian and Bliss families.
