Bennett honored for serving rural patients

PROVIDENCE – Laila Bennett, office manager for WellOne Primary Medical and Dental Care’s Foster facility, was recently recognized for her efforts serving Rhode Island residents living in rural areas.
Dr. Michael Fine, director of the R.I. Department of Health, awarded Bennett with the 2014 Rural Health Champion Award at the recent celebration of National Rural Health Day at the Statehouse.
Bennett has been assisting patients from Foster and nearby communities with their medical and dental needs for 23 years. The WellOne office in Foster is the only provider of primary care medicine for Foster, southern Glocester, western Scituate and parts of Coventry.
“Laila treats patients like family,” said Peter Bancroft, president and CEO of WellOne. “She goes above and beyond the duties of her position, often going out of her way to help someone.” •
