PROVIDENCE – CEOs of 16 fledgling companies from the Betaspring startup accelerator presented themselves and their companies to a full house Thursday evening at Betaspring’s Launch Day in hopes of gaining equity and support.

Launch Day was the final step for the startups that spent the last 12 weeks in the intensive, mentorship-driven program.

The presentations started off with CareThread, a team of doctors headed by CEO Dr. Scott Guelich, who described the chaotic communication systems typical of most American hospitals.

CareThread’s real-time health care communications platform, which is accessed through smart phones and tablets, allows real-time messaging and for multiple users to access the same information. Harvard doctors at Brigham and Women’s Hospital and Boston will be testing the system.

CEOs from the other 15 startup teams got on stage in turn to pitch their ideas to the crowd. Sproutel’s Hannah Chung donned a bear costume to introduce Jerry the Bear – a stuffed animal focused on helping children with Type I diabetes learn to live with their disease.

Chung and Sproutel CEO Aaron Horowitz said the company is already partnering with Children With Diabetes, America’s largest diabetes network and the Mayo Clinic.

The rest of this year’s Betaspring class is as follows:

    • 121 Nexus, formerly Agile, a software to help political leaders connect with constituents
