RE/MAX 1st Choice real estate agent Mark DeCosta recently hosted his second annual summer block party fundraising event at his home in Coventry, raising $8,000 for Hasbro Children’s Hospital, doubling what he raised last year.
More than 200 community members and 43 volunteers attended the Rockin’ Through the Ages-themed fundraiser, complete with four rock-and-roll bands, a raffle, dancing, food, beverages, and a bake sale run by his 8-year-old daughter and her friends.
“We far exceeded our fundraising goals and expectations at this second annual event,” said DeCosta. “This year’s event was such a success thanks to our volunteers, live bands and hours of planning that we have already started planning next year’s event, which will be held at a large venue and provide the ability to raise even more money for Hasbro Children’s Hospital.”
The $8,000 that was raised will benefit Hasbro Children’s Hospital and Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals, which provides comfort, treatment and hope to millions of sick children each year. •
