During the ceremony, local officials, customers are employees will sign one of the main I-beams at the top of the structure. The ceremony will be held at 9:30 a.m. at the company’s headquarters at 630 Currant Road in the Fall River Industrial Park.

Blount’s addition, which broke ground in April, is part of a two-phased expansion plan at its headquarters, which the company built and moved into in 2004.

The project is expected to be completed by the end of September. The investment for the first phase is expected to exceed $10 million. There are also plans for a second phase expansion of 40,000 square feet over the next three years, according to information from Blount.

The new facility will house additional packaging innovations and add logistical capacity. It also will free up production space to allow Blount to expand its product line beyond gourmet soups and side dishes, a news release stated.

In addition to the 30 construction jobs the project will create, the expansion project is expected to create 50 permanent full-time jobs and 25 seasonal positions during the first five years.
Blount currently employs 300 people at this location, and all will be retained.
