BlumShapiro, KLR, DiSanto Priest & Co. recognized by Accounting Today

PROVIDENCE – Two local accounting firms were named to Accounting Today’s 2016 Top 100 Firms after showing strong year-over-year revenue growth last year.

BlumShapiro ranked 53rd, a drop from 52nd last year, while Kahn, Litwin, Renza & Co. Ltd. ranked 92nd, an improvement from 94th last year.

In addition, BlumShapiro, KLR and DiSanto Priest & Co. were recognized as top New England firms.
The annual list ranks the largest accounting firms throughout the country and in individual regions, examining a host of benchmark data, including strategies and advice from the most successful firms.

For the second year in a row, Accounting Today named Connecticut-based BlumShapiro New England’s top accounting firm based on revenue, partners, professionals and total employees.
“BlumShapiro is consistently chosen by clients because we are a unique, integrated source for accounting, tax and business consulting services, which allows us to help our clients maximize opportunity and unlock their full potential,” said CEO Joseph A. Kask in a prepared statement.
The regional accounting, tax and business consulting firm – with offices in Providence – ended 2015 with revenue totaling $72.7 million, representing a 6.1 percent increase compared with the previous year.
KLR, in Providence, has the most certified public accountants in Rhode Island and finished No. 3 with revenue totaling $39.6 million, representing a 9.7 percent increase compared with the previous year. Disanto Priest & Co., based in Warwick, ranked No. 15 with revenue totaling $10.4 million, representing a 5.7 percent increase compared with the previous year.
The list includes 18 firms from the New England region with combined revenue totaling $421.2 million, representing an average firm growth of 9.3 percent, “despite the acquisition of perennial regional leader Freeley & Driscoll by BDO earlier this year,” according to Accounting Today.
Maine-based Baker Newman & Noyes, which joined the Top 100 this year, had the strongest year-over-year growth of 28.3 percent and ranked No. 4 in the region, according to the report.
BlumShapiro’s appointment of Kask as CEO was also noted in the report’s “2016 Firm Highlights.”
“We are continuing to focus on performance in 2016 by building and sustaining a healthy, high-performance culture that continues to deliver top-notch client service and secure strong client relationships,” Kask said. “Accounting Today’s recognition reflects the integrity, quality, service and innovation that has defined the BlumShapiro culture for more than 30 years.”
